  • I love this church so much. When I moved to the area, I decided to make another change in my life - to get Closer to God. My decision started in my heart which motivated me to find this little church in Shiloh IL. My experience was remarkable. This was in August of 2006 - I had just graduated from graduate school and moved to St. Clair County and opened a practice in Shiloh, IL. I had heard Catholics dress extravagantly for mass - so knowing no differently, I put on a suit and tie. I was overdressed! But everyone was so nice. I was greeted at the door. People around me shook my hand and introduced themselves. At the end of mass, Father Jim shook my hand, talked to me about me and then said that I can lose the jacket! But everyone was so nice. I sat in a quiet seat during mass in the back and away from others because I'm a bit shy. But I really felt overwhelmed with what I expect was God's presence. It was a feeling that I can't explain and I'm not a "feelings kind of person." But it was there. I went through the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) program to "become" Catholic. Again, I cannot tell you how much this has meant to me. Deacon Mills and Ann M. were awesome during our class. I just kept thinking to myself, "I can't believe these two people have such dedication that they would take time to help me grow in Christ and help me find my faith. They answered all of my questions - deep questions. And during my celebrations of confirmation, first communion and baptism (which I did at the Easter Vigil the same day), I felt that same presence - and extremely happy to be made part of the Corpus Christi Catholic Church family. This is the church I took my wife when we started dating, where she converted (HER choice), where we got married, and where we're going to have our daughters Christened in a couple of months. This is a great church. Everyone is really an extension to your family. Before going through RCIA, I had a pre-conceived notion that Catholics were snobby, closed-off, rude and/or judgmental (I have no idea why) but this was NEVER the case. I have been to many churches before deciding my path and I have never felt so loved and welcomed as I did at CCCC Shiloh. And there's NEVER pressure. I have never had anyone shame us if we've missed a weekend (or several consecutive weekends as is our case with newborns). And this church is filled with people who will be right there if you need anything at all! I love this church - my family at Corpus Christi. You will too!!!
